Day 1
The journey begins in Inverness and continues through the misty crags and heather clad moors. This unforgettable journey heads north, between soaring peaks, staggering vistas and wide valleys to Strathpeffer – a stylish Victorian spa town. Spend an evening exploring this magical area of Scotland’s north coast and uncover the fascinating, relaxing and welcoming side to this archipelago. The Viking settlement town of Kirkwall will be home for the next two nights.

Day 2
Today will be spent exploring the scenic landscapes and historic backdrop to Orkney. Walk in the footsteps of ancient islanders at the mysterious Maeshowe tomb, Skara Brae Neolithic village and the mystical Ring of Brodgar. Marvel at the buildings and structures which have survived for thousands of years. Next visit the Iron Age Broch of Gurness and if the tides are on our side, go on an atmospheric walk to Brough of Birsay island and discover Norse and Medieval remains.

Day 3
Start the day in Kirkwall and take the opportunity to visit the numerous Norse sites from St Magnus Cathedral to the Bishop’s Palace. Take a mid-morning break and enjoy a coffee or if something stronger is more appealing, why not take a tour around the Highland Park Distillery and sample one of Scotland’s finest whiskies. Begin the afternoon with a visit to the famous Italian Chapel in Scapa Flow and a photo opportunity at the dramatic WWII ship wrecks. Finally it is time to board the ferry to the mainland and to Wick where a farewell dinner in a convivial atmosphere will round off the day.

On the final day of the tour we return to Inverness with a stop at Dunrobin Castle en route. Relax and enjoy the beauty and grandeur of this stately home with its impressive gardens. Leaving Dunrobin for Inverness via the coastal road brings unforgettable panoramic views of the soul-stirring Scottish scenery at every turn.
