Arrival at Copenhagen

Arrive in Copenhagen and make your own way to the hotel (taxi transfers can be prebooked in advance). Discover the city at your own pace. Meet your tour leader at the hotel reception for an informative briefing about your tour. Overnight in Copenhagen at Scandic Copenhagen or similar.

Day 2

Copenhagen - Aarhus (190 km)

Breakfast in the hotel. A local guide takes you on a panoramic tour of Copenhagen, visiting the historic district of Nyhavn, Amalienborg Palace and Christianborg Palace. In the afternoon, departure to Aarhus by ferry from Odden. Option: Classic Canal Tour from Nyhavn (35 € p.p.). Overnight in Aarhus at Comwell Aarhus City or similar.

Day 3

Aarhus - Fjord Line (185km)

Breakfast in the hotel. Morning guided tour of Aarhus, Denmark's second city and European Capital of Culture 2017, with a stop at the Romanesque-Gothic Cathedral. Free time to explore independently. In the afternoon, continue north to Hirtshals to board the overnight cruise to Norway. Dinner and overnight on board.

Stavanger - Pulpit Rock

After early arrival in Stavanger, breakfast at hotel or restaurant. Morning panoramic walk with your tour leader through Stavanger's charming old town. Rest of the day free. Choose one optional activity: Option A – 3-hour Lysefjord cruise (75 € p.p.); Option B – Lysefjord cruise combined with the spectacular Preikestolen (Pulpit Rock) hike (130 € p.p.). Breakfast in the hotel. Drive to Bergen via ferry from Mortavika to Årsvågen and from Sandvikvåg to Halhjem. Afternoon panoramic tour of Bergen with a local guide, including the famous fish market and the Hanseatic quarter (UNESCO World Heritage Site). Optional ride on the Fløibanen funicular up Mount Fløyen for panoramic views. Overnight in Bergen at Scandic Ørnen or similar.

Day 6

Bergen - Flåm - Balestrand

Breakfast in the hotel. Head to Voss to board the Bergen Railway, ascending nearly 900 metres with spectacular fjord views to Myrdal station. Here, board the famous Flåmsbana – one of the world's steepest railway lines – winding through breathtaking waterfalls, steep mountains and 20 tunnels down to the village of Flåm. Enjoy leisure time in Flåm before cruising the Sognefjord – Norway's longest fjord – to Balestrand. Overnight and dinner in Balestrand/Voss at Kviknes Hotel, Myrkdalen Hotel or similar.

Balestrand - Borgund Church - Oslo (365km)

Day 8

Oslo - Vigeland Park - Karlstad (220 km)

In the afternoon, depart for Sweden and arrive in Karlstad, set in the delta of the Klara River and Lake Vänern.
